〈The Dragon-Lion Union〉

The dragon flies through the sky when he sees the lion playing on the ground. The lion is shocked to see the dragon come down to earth, but the lion is curious about the dragon ball and chases after it. The dragon tries to chase away the lion from his ball and surrounds the lion. The two are cautious about the other at first, but eventually become friends as they test the waters and realize they hold no hostility for each other. The performance ends with the dragon and lion rolling around together in the ground.

Note: This performance solves the taboos of traditional rules for lion and dragon dances. Firstly, the dragon and lion shouldn't meet as the dragon is from the sky, and the lion is from the earth. Secondly, the lion shouldn't be surround by the dragon, because that symbolizes the dragon killing the lion. In our performance, the dragon meets the lion near the earth and they become friends after the two test the waters with each other. It is a wholesome and warm ending.

This is an original performance created by me 20 years ago. I am very satisfied that I was able to train a group that met the difficulties of the routine.
